Nick Benton, a former college athlete and Niskayuna, NY native, will be taking on the Old Forge Ultramarathon (50K) on September 6, 2025, in support of the LEAD Foundation. After completing his first marathon in Manchester, New Hampshire last fall, Benton discovered a deep passion for running—one that has transformed his life.

"Running has brought me a profound sense of joy and peace. It’s a time where I can be fully present and grounded—and I’ve found a certain beauty in the discomfort it brings," says Benton. "I want to use this passion not just to push my own limits, but to inspire others to embrace challenges and pursue purpose-driven goals—especially when those goals can make a positive impact on others."

With this goal in mind, Benton is aiming to raise $2,500 for the LEAD Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to create a secure haven for adolescent wellness development, encompassing physical, spiritual, mental, and social well-being through sports and fitness. LEAD supports young individuals through scholarship funds, recreational sports leagues, wellness events, mentoring programs, and educational seminars—fostering holistic growth in communities and beyond.

Benton’s journey from first-time marathoner to soon-to-be ultramarathoner is a testament to the power of purpose-driven training. As he tackles the 31-mile challenge through the scenic trails of Old Forge, he’s inviting supporters to join him in making a difference—one mile, and one donation, at a time.
