November 5, 2024 my dear friends BJ and Annette Gilliam's 16 year old daughter, Nevaeh, was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) and has remained in the hospital since. Treatment includes an out of hospital medication that insurance does not cover entirely, leaving Nevaeh's parents with $1,000 copay each month for the following year and a half. Doctors have told them that Nevaeh will likely be in the hospital for the next 6 months to a year. Mom is able to work from bedside however, Dad must return to work. Discussions have begun regarding possible need for marrow transplant down the road. Nevaeh has been very ill from side effects of chemotherapy.
