My wonderful nephew Nate Murray has been diagnosed with Thymus Cancer, also known as Thymoma. It is a rare cancer that forms in the thymus gland, which is in the chest. Nate has been working with debilitating symptoms for months, and recently got the definitive diagnosis when they found numerous masses in his chest. The road ahead for him includes surgery to remove one of the larger tumors that is pushing up against his heart, in addition to chemo and radiation to eliminate the other tumors.

Nate has been in a new job for only 9 months, which means that he is not eligible for any of the financial benefits of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). That means he will be without salary while undergoing surgery and recuperation, which will take at least 8 weeks, and he will also have to pay for his full healthcare benefits. His employer is also not required to hold his job but is being supportive of Nate during this difficult time.

This will obviously be a very stressful journey for Nate, his wife Jillian, and their three sons Hunter, Chase, and Jett. Our hope with this Fund is to help minimize the financial worry, allowing them to focus on beating this rare cancer and getting Nate back to full health.
