Early Sunday morning, September 24, 2023, my sister Nakaine was involved in a near-fatal head-on collision in Valley Stream, NY. Her car was struck by a DWI driver.
My generous, energetic sister found herself fighting for her life, with extensive internal damage, blood loss, broken bones, and hours of surgeries immediately after the accident.
Nakaine was a hard-working dialysis nurse in a facility in Brooklyn, NY, and a part-time nurse at a nursing/rehabilitation facility in West Babylon. She loved her career helping people, and she loves her family and friends.
She's been on a long road to recovery riddled with months of surgeries, and unfortunately, she will not be able to get back to work. We are really concerned about life expenses and medical costs. There's already mounting debt from surgeries that have not been paid yet through her work health insurance, which has been extended through COBRA and Medicaid.
Our family is so thankful to God and the miracle that Nakaine survived this horrible event; however, these last 2 years and the coming months continue to be challenging medically and financially. There are more surgeries scheduled, and recovery has been difficult. Our family and friends have helped throughout this time but now ask that you please give whatever amount you are comfortable with to help with the mounting medical debt. A community helping can make a huge difference.
