Hello Facebook Family & Friends,
As many of you know, on August 11th, our Bonus Dad Nacho underwent a carotid endarterectomy. While we were initially told the surgery was a success, Nacho immediately began experiencing paralysis and was unable to speak afterward.
On Tuesday, August 12th, it was confirmed that he had suffered a stroke. At the time, we didn’t know how severe it was due to limited medical resources at the hospital. Thankfully, by the grace of God, we were able to transfer him in the early hours of Wednesday morning to Memorial Hermann Fannin Stroke Unit.
There, the medical team sprang into action. After several CT scans, we learned how serious the stroke and swelling were. At one point, we were faced with heartbreaking decisions if the swelling had continued, they would’ve had to perform cranial surgery, which posed serious risks.
Thanks to the incredible doctors and ICU nurses, they did everything possible to help our dad. After nearly 5 days, he stabilized. In our hearts, we believe God guided us to that hospital and that he’s not done with Nachito yet.
Today, Nacho is in rehabilitation, and we are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, calls, texts, and visits. We know how many of you love him in your own special way just as we do.
As you can imagine, the unexpected has brought on a heavy burden of medical expenses. With everything Nacho will need in the months ahead from hospital bills to rehabilitation and medical equipment for his recovery at home we are doing all we can to support him.
We have created a GoFundMe to ask for any help you may be able to offer. No amount is too small, and every bit will go directly to Nacho's care and recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
