As most of you know, our momma, Ms. E, was diagnosed with uterine cancer in July 2024. It’s been a long and hard journey. Ms. E had some very severe reactions to her chemotherapy, multiple ER visits, and multiple hospital stays, which led to being placed in a physical therapy facility in December 2024. After only a few weeks in the facility, momma experienced a fall from lack of help and ended up breaking her ankle in two places. Ms. E had surgery on January 3, 2025, where they added a steel plate and six screws to her ankle. This led to a 10-week non-weight-bearing period. My siblings and I decided not to send our mother back to the facility where she experienced her fall and moved her to another facility. Mom seemed much happier at the new facility but grew weak and unable to perform her PT. The staff, along with momma, decided that until she could get her strength back, she would need to be moved to long-term care.

A week after being moved to long-term care, Ms. E grew short of breath and was becoming very weak and agitated. On Sunday, February 16, Diane agreed that it was time to make a trip to the ER, where she was admitted for COVID and the finding of blood clots. Momma currently has three blood clots: one good-sized clot that developed in her leg from the surgery and lack of mobility, and two very small clots in her lungs. While in the hospital, she has become even weaker and has been very delirious. Her doctors are confident that she is on the way to improvement, but there is still a very long road ahead.

The siblings have been trying to take on the household responsibilities and bills, along with taking care of her beloved buddy, but it has become difficult financially. We are looking for just a little help to get these bills taken care of until momma is back home and thriving again.
