-OUR TINIEST HERO-

Morgan and Jake are a young couple from Janesville, who couldn’t wait to become parents. Full of joy, excitement, and anticipation… all that changed one morning when Morgan awoke with terrible pains. After being rushed to Madison, the young mother soon found out, they would begin living a nightmare. Morgan had developed preeclampsia 2 days before her 24th week of pregnancy. An emotional rollercoaster two of them could never imagine. Morgan has longed to have a baby she could hold and cherish. She has always wanted to be a mom so she could shower her baby with all her love and affection. Unfortunately, this is not the first time Morgan has had tragedy during a pregnancy. She had a miscarriage before. She knew in her heart, in Heaven, she will have the privilege of raising that baby. They were able to stabilize both mother and baby for periods of time. Baby was able to receive the two steroid shots needed to boost his lung growth. Morgan and Jake were doing everything possible to stay positive and remain calm for the baby. The morning of August 23, they were awoke from sleeping, told they were going to deliver their precious baby boy in only a couple short hours. Frantic, the two prepared mentally and comforted each other, for what could happen.

Knowing: Once hospitalized

▪️After baby’s 1st steroid shot = 20% chance of survival for baby

▪️After baby’s 2nd steroid shot = 40% chance of survival for baby
Each passing day meant a little higher survival rate, but there were no guarantees. They were told their baby could have long-term delays and disadvantages as well as life-long disabilities as a consequence from being born too soon.

Henry Mark Allan Gies was born that morning, with his daddy right by his mommy’s side. 1lb and 2oz. Too small to even measure. He came out with a cry! Morgan and Jake could feel their hearts exploding with the instantaneous, overflowing joy of hearing the first cry of their new baby boy! Although overjoyed, they had to wait 4 hours before they could even see him and 3 days before they could hold him! His left lung wasn’t functioning the best but his right one was doing great. This little boy is a fighter, for sure!
Morgan is well and healing since her birth, all her preeclampsia symptoms are gone.
Little baby Henry will need to stay in the (NICU) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit until his original due date. Early December. Morgan is being discharged this week. The couple will need to travel back and forth from Janesville continuously until they can remain united as a family and finally bring baby Henry home. The Ronald McDonald House is available for them, as needed, although space is limited. Our family is grateful there is a program like this for families in need. But the young family now has endless mountains to climb. Jake has missed some work, and undoubtedly may need to miss more in the future. Morgan, who was working full time, cannot work at all now. Other than healing from her emergency c-section, she also needs to pump every 3 hrs to get Henry the nutrients he needs. The couple have rent, bills to pay, groceries, large gas expenses for traveling to and from Madison; all now several months before what they were planning and loss of income. Because of this happening so early in her pregnancy, our family has not even been able to have a baby shower for her. The Lord has truly blessed them thus far through the birth and arrival of little baby Henry. Morgan and Jake would never think of making a go-fund-me for themselves. But after speaking with them about what their continued financial hardship could look like, they have agreed to allow for help. I have explained to them that there are people who want to help those who truly need it. And they truly do. Thank you so much in advance for anything that you are able to give to help ensure this small family has a better and brighter tomorrow. So they can concentrate on what's most important right now, little baby Henry.
We also thank all of you for your support in prayer. We know prayer is a powerful gift, we thank you and know the Lord will shine blessings on all of Henry’s supporters.
