Hello, my name is Jaime, but some people know me as “Moony.” I’ve been selling food (burgers, hotdogs & french fries) in the downtown Tama area for about 2+ years. When I first started, it was just a side hustle to help somebody financially, as I couldn’t with the situation I was in at that time. Back then, I took a chance and bought a 2-burner Coleman grill that I would put on the trunk of my car. I started the group “MOONY’S” on Facebook, and through the help of the community, I developed a following. People would come out and support, and I learned from mistakes, struggled a bit, but met some awesome people in the process.

From there, I moved to a portable Coleman grill in 2024, where I really found some traction with Moony’s. I learned more about LLCs, ServSafe, permits, and licensing, and it was almost a full-time gig, but I ended up working at Fareway as well to help cover my bills. The guys at Fareway always supported me, and I always enjoyed telling my crazy stories that would happen with my burger ventures.

In 2025, I managed to get a Blackstone grill, which opened up more doors for me. I was able to do Pow Wow and expand upon my brand further. The Moony’s group jumped up to 780 followers in the time it took to get here. Now, the next steps are getting off the street and into my new building not too far from my usual spot. I’m nervous but excited to start. Most restaurants (about 80%) close their doors within 3 years, which is why I wanted to start this GoFundMe page, to help give Moony’s a better chance at getting off the ground. I want to stay around awhile, while also giving downtown Tama some more life. Anything is appreciated, and thanks in advance to my supporters, i.e., Nightowls.
