Hi everyone! My name is Montoya Brown. I was diagnosed back in 2022 with kidney disease and had to be put on dialysis. Back in 2018, I was rushed to the emergency room due to coughing I couldn't control. After tests were done, I was told that I had pneumonia and had to be admitted into the ICU of the hospital. The pneumonia was so bad that I developed congestive heart failure and kidney disease. I spent a week there, and after I was discharged from the hospital, COVID hit two years later, and that put me into dialysis. I've been on dialysis for the past 3 1/2 years and doing well.

Then, during the summer of 2024, I noticed that my right foot had a sharp pain coming from it whenever I walked or stood up on it. As time went by, I was able to get an appointment with a foot doctor, and I was told I had a collapsed foot. After several attempts to let the foot heal, my foot got worse. So, after speaking with my doctor, I was advised that due to my diabetes, my foot would not heal. On February 7th of 2025, my lower right leg below my knee was amputated, and I had to go to a rehabilitation center to learn how to move around with just one leg. After two weeks at the rehabilitation center, I returned home to my wife and son.

A few weeks later, I was able to get an appointment to get fitted for a prosthetic leg, which I now have, but walking long distances is a task for me. With my other health issues combined, I had to get an electric wheelchair. The reason for this GoFundMe account is to be able to get a hitch and wheelchair hitch added to my SUV so that I can take my electric wheelchair with me and my family as we go to appointments or just grocery shopping.
