UPDATE: I took Mojo in today for a recheck and got some bad news: She has developed another UTI, or the last one 4 months ago was never cured. We’ve sent it out for culture and are also waiting for her new lab work. I’m concerned because if she’s had this UTI for many months, she could have some kidney issues and she did have out of range kidney results from her labs from four months ago so I’m very worried.
This visit has just added about 800.- to the total of 7,200.- for some reason GFM only allowed me to have the total to 4000. I don’t know why I don’t know how it works, but we need some donations. Anything you can spare would mean everything. I’m sick with worry.
Mojo, my 6-year-old rescue pug, has cancer.
She’s already endured multiple surgeries, including a major reconstruction to remove tumors from her vulva, shoulder, and tummy.
The surgery saved her life, but left me with a $7,700 bill I cannot cover on my fixed income.
Mojo is my world. Every dollar goes directly to paying for her care. Please help if you can, or share her story.
That’s the urgent ask. Below is the longer version, because Mojo’s fight deserves to be told.
Mojo’s Story
Mojo, my silly 6-year-old rescue pug, has already endured more than most dogs in a lifetime. She was bred at just a year old, then abandoned in the Central California desert—starving and neglected—before I found her two years ago. Since then, she’s been spoiled with home-cooked meals, a safe home, and love.
The Diagnosis
Her health battles didn’t stop there. After chronic UTIs and a major dental surgery in January, Mojo needed a biopsy in June for a growth on her vulva. The results brought devastating news: cancer—mast cell tumor (MCT). Worse, the first surgery couldn’t remove all the cancer.
The Surgery
A second, more extensive operation followed. Multiple tumors were found on her shoulder, tummy, and vulva, which required complete reconstruction. Because it was so urgent, the surgeon performed the procedure right away—without upfront payment. Mojo spent nights under hospital care, recovering like the little fighter she is.
The Outcome
The good news: pathology shows clean margins on nearly all tissue, and the vulva reconstruction is cancer-free at the edges.
The hard news: I now owe $7,700 for her surgery. People seem hesitant to give when a procedure has already been done, but I couldn't wait for her to get worse; it was a life-saving surgery.
Why I Need Help
As a disabled senior on a fixed income, I can’t manage this alone. My last fundraiser was managed through a nonprofit, but unfortunately it was handled carelessly, and much of the bill was left unpaid. This time, I am handling everything myself—so every donation goes directly to Mojo’s care and paying this balance.
Mojo is my world. If you can give—or share this campaign—it would mean everything to us.
