For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Mindy. I am a 45-year-old mother of 3 and grandmother of 3 beautiful babies. I was born and raised in Randolph County, Alabama, but currently reside in Mobile County, Alabama.

Life has been really rough the past couple of years, but it just got even tougher a couple of weeks ago. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic several years ago and have to be checked pretty regularly. I had no luck getting it under control until I met an incredible doctor here in Mobile who got me on the right medication and got all of my levels back to normal with the exception of one, which happened to be my liver enzymes. She sent me for further testing with a specialist who did an ultrasound and then a FibroScan. When I went in for the results, I got some not-so-good news! I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, and he stated that it was really bad and showed me on a diagram where it was the stage before liver cancer. I have to have a biopsy next month to see physically how bad it really is.

And all this news came right after I lost the financial help for my insurance premium. So now, not only do I have to deal with this news, but I also face the loss of my insurance altogether if I can’t pay the premiums. The premiums for my medication are through the roof, and my co-pays for the tests I need are just unaffordable! I’ve been through so much already, and I hate to ask for help, but at this point, I’m just trying to live. I’m not a beggar, and I hate asking for help. Anyone who knows me can tell you this is really taking a hit to my pride. I appreciate all of you and thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help if you can financially.
