Milton's Healing and New Life

Donation protected
On October 10th this baby was found in our neighborhood Carmella Circle & Connecticut Avenue, Sarasota, Florida . He barely walked up our driveway he was so exhausted he practically collapsed. We are told from neighbors he’s been wandering prior to Hurricane Helene and appears to have survived Hurricane Milton (we named him Milton). Milton was fed, given a bath and is now resting in our garage there is a portable A/C in there. We have three other dogs and are unable to bring him inside.

On October 11th Milton was taken to the vet (no microchip); he was diagnosed as severely dehydrated, hookworm, heart worm, inflammation and skin irritations with most likely other unknown ailments.

Milton was given IV fluids, Vitamin B shot, flea treatment, medicated shampoo (he received another bath), Metronidazole, Pancure C and prescription dog food (6 cans).

Through a local lost and found FB page I came across Milton’s previous owner who re-homed him. We spoke and I was informed Milton is a Third Generation Domesticated White Wolf, was purchased in Port Charlotte and he cannot remember the name of the rescue he used when Milton was surrendered. The previous owner has committed to me he will work with me and stay in contact regarding any questions. Per the previous owner, the following:

Age 6 years old.
Housebroken.
Not crate trained.
Good around livestock and horses.
His name was Kato.
Knows sit and stay.
Gentle and sweet.
Great with kids.
Great with dogs. (Not cats).
Escape artist.
Anxiety when left alone.
Diet he was on Science Diet or similar.
Loves to “hug” he will stand on his hind paws and hug you like a person.
Likes to playfully jump up.
Likes to howl.
Likes to play fetch.
Loves swimming and car rides.
Reason for surrender: Divorce.

Since Milton has been in our care he jumps up on us, howls and has anxiety when left alone. Milton is very very sweet, gentle and knows sit and down.

As of yesterday 10/12, Milton is coming along and seems to be a happier pup today.

Because of my inexperience with this breed and need for help his care, I will be working with Destiny; an experienced woman with three hybrid wolf dogs with a vast amount of knowledge on the breed. Destiny also is a dedicated worker at Big Cat Habitat here in Sarasota and spends the other half of her time at Elmira Wildlife Sanctuary; she also has space on her farm to jointly care for him.

Milton will undergo his heart worm treatment with Destiny and I leading the way through his continued aftercare. Between the both of us we can provide Milton a safe space splitting time between our homes. Destiny has a full caged space and I have my home.

Once Milton passes all his parasite tests, heart worm treatment and follow up vet to determine any other illnesses. We will advise of his next steps.

For now, Milton will be with me until Destiny gets power caused from Hurricane Milton that recently ravaged Florida wherein she and I will coordinate our schedules for his care. He received some Reiki this last evening, some CBD and some essential oils to help with his anxiety; he will even get his own Amethyst crystal for healing.

Destiny and I will be working with Mark E. Bessette, DVM, Southeast Animal Clinic, 3316 53rd Street E, Bradenton, Florida.

Any proceeds left over from Milton’s care will be donated to Sugar’s Gift, 5910 Post Blvd, Bradenton, Florida. An organization helping pet parents and their beloved pups cross the rainbow bridge. I personally used Sugar’s Gift when I lost my Rottweiler, Hudson Bear, osteosarcoma last year.

You can follow Milton’s new journey on Facebook by liking his FB called Milton’s New Life.

Of course, we will continue to keep everyone posted. If you would like to donate to Milton’s care please go to the Go Fund Me link below. Thank you so very much for spreading his story far and wide.
