Mike's Journey
Mike has recently been diagnosed with myxofibrosarcoma, and his treatment plan includes 3 to 6 rounds of chemotherapy in Grand Forks followed by 5 weeks of radiation therapy. He will need to travel to Rochester, MN, for this treatment, which means he’ll be away from his family, work, and support system during this difficult time. After completing radiation, Mike will face extensive surgery, also at Mayo Clinic, that will involve skin/muscle grafts to help with his recovery.
Despite these challenges, Mike remains a dedicated and hardworking individual who always puts others first. He’s known for helping neighbors and strangers alike. He has always been willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Mike is also an avid blood donor, proving his commitment to helping others. As mentioned, Mike is a dedicated employee. He rarely misses work, so this situation is especially challenging for him and his family.
Your support through any donation will directly help the family with medical expenses, including food, gas, and lodging during his treatments. Additionally, your generosity can help maintain some sense of normalcy for them during this difficult time. While it may hurt Mike’s pride to ask for help, it’s essential that we come together to show this family the love and support they need right now. Every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for your kindness and support.
Thank you.
Overview of Myxofibrosarcoma
Myxofibrosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that usually develops in the soft tissues, such as muscles or fat. It only accounts for less than 1% of the worlds cancers. It primarily affects adults and can occur anywhere in the body, but it’s most common in the limbs. Because it’s uncommon, many people may not be familiar with it, which can make it even more challenging for those diagnosed.
