Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating news that Michael, my 13-year-old nephew, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. In the blink of an eye, his world — and ours — has changed completely.

Michael is an 7th grader at Traner Middle School in Reno, and is truly one of a kind. He’s the type of kid who lights up every room with his humor and kindness. He loves the Golden State Warriors, especially Steph Curry. He spends his free time playing Fortnite with his friends, cracking jokes, and making everyone around him laugh.

Now, Michael is facing the biggest battle of his life. The road ahead includes intense treatments: chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. It’s a journey no child should ever have to face — but he’s doing so with courage, strength, and the same infectious spirit he’s always had.
