I am Christa Levens, and John M Erickson, or better known as “Johnny Foxx”, was my most favorite person, best friend and “brother”! His family (his mother and 10 other siblings), and I along with many of his friends are all completely devastated by his passing. This was a horrific accident and I, as are many others, just baffled, to say the least. Johnny would give the shirt off his back in the dead of Minnesota winter to help someone out, and walk his way back home. THAT was the type of guy that he was. About 9/10 years ago, Johnny started his own journey with sobriety and he was SERIOUS about it and he left so much of his belongings behind and pitched himself a tent in the back woods on Prince’s property and he got sober, he got a good job with Lakewinds Co-op grocery store in Richfield, Mn and he literally busted his booty to scrape and save money! After 2 years he got into a little, super cute, studio apartment in Uptown Mn. Johnny then became a dog owner and realized that Nala was a Bullmastiff and Pit-bull mix and was too big for his size studio. In the summer of 2023, Johnny, bought his first house! He became a homeowner!!! He was SO excited and proud of that HUGE accomplishment and how far he had grown, and now Nala had a house and a backyard to grow and play in, so in Johnny fashion, he also got himself 2 cats!! He loved them so much! Nala, Kaiju, and Cookie. Johnny knew that I have severe PTSD from being in a volatile relationship, and so did many other of his female friends that he loved, and Johnny put out purple porch lights in the front porch of his house to show everyone that he stood as a safe house for women who were trying to get out of domestic violence situations. That is what the purple porch lights mean. Johnny took in my daughter, myself, and 7 other girls, at separate times, into his home and gave us a safe house to stay, and helped us get through the nightmares we were facing, and got us back on our feet and back into the world again! Without him, I don’t know how I would have survived!!!! I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today in my life without him!!! He was always there and such a huge part of my daily life and routine, life without him is so hard and unimaginable. Johnny was fortunate enough to be from a very large family and his mother, Becky is my second mother!!! Johnny was the oldest of her 11 children and he had just turned 45 years old on the 7th of January, 2025. His siblings are spread throughout the whole country from Washington State to New York, and down to Texas!!! One of his sisters, the youngest sibling, is now in the United States Navy and is now on active deployment, Marylyn is also Johnny’s goddaughter. Johnny was always bragging about his little sister and how proud of her that he was! He was very proud of all of his family! His brothers, Luke, Sam, Leo, and Adam. His sisters, Vikki, Rachel, Sara, CeeCee, Eva, and Marylyn. He couldn’t love them and their children more!!!! We talked about them daily, and how different they are from each other and yet, still the same. Johnny loved his music, his fun style of dancing, his comic books and magic cards, and his video games. We got into watching musical movies a few years ago and we LOVED the Sound of Music, especially since one of his sisters is a Catholic Nun Sister in New York! Johnny grew up Catholic, we developed a close relationship with my mother, and we were going to church with my mother, together on the Sunday’s that Johnny could get off from work. We always went on my birthday on Christmas Eve together and he was so proud of me when I joined the church choir.
Johnny was very spiritual.
One of the first things that he and I did together right after we met, was, we went to the Halloween event at a park in Plymouth Mn. There was bouncy houses, slides, and a small carnival with a TON of kids running everywhere! Johnny and I sat for hours the two months prior to Halloween, making gift bags for girls and boys! We made 100 bags for each. Each bag had king sized candy bars, Halloween candy, Halloween art projects, Halloween themed toys, jewelry, slime and some school supplies!!!!! Each trick or treater got their own special bag!!! Johnny and I ran with a huge tote full with the bags, and on wheels, and we were dressed for Halloween as Spider Man and Tinkerbell, but we passed out those bags and we were SHOCKED that we ran out of them so quickly!!! 200 bags!!! BUT, we had about 100 tubs of just slime left, and what kids don’t LOVE slime??? So we went to the bouncy house and dumped them into a big pile and yelled “slime for everyone”… kids came running from every direction and then we were out of slime!!!! Johnny and I walked back to my house and we couldn’t STOP laughing and talking about how much fun we had!!! It was so special! We decided to do it every year after that! This past year I decorated Johnny’s entire house and the entire front yard with all things Halloween! We had a graveyard with a fogger, we had animated witches mixing their potions in their cauldron, and lights, and we dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow and an Elf. We sat and passed out bags and candy bars and candy, until we ran out of EVERYTHING! We were passing out stuff to the kids until 10:30PM!!!!!! We couldn’t even believe it!
Johnny and I then took Halloween down and put up my Christmas wonderland everywhere!!!! We had people coming by the house and stopping and taking pictures of our yard! It was so fun!!!
Johnny passed away April 4th. very unexpectedly. Johnny’s funeral expenses were almost $20,000.00, and now we are facing with getting the headstone.
Our goal is to reach $3500.00 so that we can get Johnny a beautiful marker that he deserves! He has truly blessed so many people with his kindness, love and compassion.
please donate if possible and share his story so that others may see it!!!!!! Thank you so greatly!
I know that Johnny is looking down from heaven and watching over us all with great pride!
