I'd like to introduce my little sister, Melony. Up until a year ago, she was a vibrant, healthy woman who stood out in her community. She worked two jobs to support her small family as a single mom. She worked at Bradley's restaurant waiting tables and at her local USVeterans Post 104 tending bar. She was always there to lend a hand when needed, whether it was picking up extra shifts to help out a coworker who needed a break or helping to organize motorcycle runs as fundraisers for kids. She was there.

Then all of a sudden, she fell ill. She landed in the hospital with pancreatitis and a major gallbladder attack. After having her gallbladder removed and spending five days in the hospital, her whole world was turned upside-down when she learned she had stage 1 breast cancer. For Melony, this meant another surgery and more unexpected time off from working the jobs she loved. After the lumpectomy, she thought she was home free and would be able to get back to the jobs she loved, but cancer had other ideas. She learned a few days later that her bloodwork revealed she would need chemotherapy to prevent the cancer from returning. At this time, she's in so much pain and so ill from the chemo treatments that she's not able to work, and the household bills are adding up. Now that chemo is finally done, she has 33 radiation treatments to do over the next couple of months. Due to the government shutdown, she was unable to get any government assistance for over a month. Not working, she has been using up her savings and is now maxed out on her credit cards. She is in desperate need of our assistance to help keep her afloat in her time of need. So we are coming to you, the community that she loves and serves, asking for your help. We're asking that you all return the love and generosity that Melony so freely gives to help her in her hour of need.
