In 2020, just as the world shut down due to the pandemic, Melissa was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Doctors gave her a very grim prognosis and not much chance of fighting it. Well, anyone who knows Melissa knows that she did not accept that! She underwent many rounds of chemotherapy and a massive surgery followed by many lines of treatment. Five years later, she has proven those original doctors all wrong! Unfortunately, though, she is still in the battle, fighting hard.

Currently, Melissa has been discharged from the hospital, where she has spent the past month. Due to her current condition, she has had to stop working to focus on her health and well-being. Without her income as an attorney, she is looking at months of COBRA payments, healthcare supplies, co-pays, and nursing care.
