I started this page to help out my long-time best friend who was involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier this year. Melisa's accident was just a few short days after her BIG 50! We were very lucky she was released with only minor scrapes and bruises, but the worst was what we couldn't see and that's a traumatic brain injury (TBI). She hasn’t been able to return to work yet.

The brain injury itself is truly unique as not all brain injuries are the same. "Time and patience" are the words we hear the most, but Melisa's ready to get this rehabilitation kicked in the ass. She is hell bent on getting better and back to the ornery, loving, sassy girl we all love so dearly. I am too! With that being said, Melisa's recovery option is an out of state rehabilitation facility.

This facility is not an in-patient program and is entirely self-pay due upon arrival. Melisa will also need lodging & transportation and daily cost of living funds. She is not able to drive herself. She plans on being in Denver from Thanksgiving weekend until around December 23rd, with ongoing therapy for cognitive and executive functioning starting back up immediately on December 26th after she returns to South Dakota. We anticipate at least one in person follow-up in Denver, early February 2025.
