My name is Sally Bozzelli. I am starting this GoFundMe for my dear friend Melanie Salazar. We have been friends for over 30 years. She was the one in our group that always reminded us to get our mammograms and screenings.

Ten years ago, she was diagnosed with two different cancers and was in stage four. It was also in her lymph nodes. This is where her fight with cancer began. A complete mastectomy was performed, and her lymph nodes were removed. Then came the process of chemo, and it was a very strong one. She remained challenged but not defeated. She survived the process, her hair grew back, and she managed to get back to work as a dental assistant and front desk manager. She never complained and always had a smile, but the chemo had taken a toll on her, and the medical bills kept coming.

Then the complications started, and there were many. They discovered her heart valve had been damaged but could not be replaced yet because her blood cell counts were low. There were infusions, medications, bone marrow testing, and on and on for over six years. Here we are in 2024, and they have found it was her kidney not processing correctly. Now started the injections to the kidney, medications, blood draws, and more medical bills. At Christmas, we were all hopeful that now they had found the problem, and she was gaining weight, and that normal was around the corner for 2025.

Yesterday I received news that she is in stage 3 kidney failure. More injections, medications, and specialists. Please do anything you can to help.
