Hard Time Have Hit Friends, Help a Sister Out If Able?

Greetings friends and community members!

2024 has sure been a colorful year! While it may ultimately end up being my most enlightening year ever, these last few months are really going to put the screws to me. Unfortunately, not in a good way.

During the second week of September, I was not feeling well and figured I had come down with some sort of early fall/just had a major life change happen type of virus. Figuring a few days of rest could get me feeling back to my normal self and I could be back slinging the food, beer, and great times like always. Unfortunately, my body was not getting the message.

On September 19th, after feeling increasingly worse, I popped into the ER to get some answers. Thinking I would be in and out in no time, I was shocked when I was urgently being admitted to the hospital and requiring three blood transfusions in the meantime.

Upon further testing, poking, and prodding, I found out that my lady organs had decided to host blood-devouring fibroids and would ultimately need surgery to remove lady organs and her “friends.” After three days in the hospital, a round of antibiotics was in full effect, and a procedure to relieve the horrific pain I was in was ordered to be done approximately 10 days post-hospitalization. Great! A plan…!!!!

Well, as we all know how fantastic and efficient our medical system is, referrals did not reach specialists in a timely fashion, and I was still in incredible pain and was unable to work.

Finally, on October 17th, I was in for the “helpful” procedure of placing a drain into my body to buy me time until I could have lady organs and blood-devouring friends removed on December 2nd. Again, things don’t always go according to plan.

By Wednesday, October 23rd, the pain was back and bigger and different than ever before. After having the drain removed and the hopeful feeling of relief, stuff went a bit sideways.

On October 26th, I found myself back in the ER, receiving two additional blood transfusions and being told I would need surgery in the morning to clear out an infection caused by the initial procedure. Surgery was successful, but I still needed to be in the hospital to receive copious amounts of IV antibiotics to clear the deep tissue infection.

Whatever blessings we can take away while having sepsis, being in excruciating pain, and in the hospital, I got one!! On Monday, October 28th, they bumped up my lady organ and her blood-devouring friends surgery to Friday, November 1st!!!!!! I unfortunately had to stay in the hospital for a total of seven days.

I arrived home on Saturday, November 2nd feeling like a whole new Megan! Unfortunately, this new Megan has not worked in almost five weeks. So here we are…

I have been approved for the WA Paid Family Medical Leave for initial hospitalization in September. Unfortunately, I still have not received payment.

I have also submitted a new claim for the most recent batch of medical good times but expect turnaround time to be approximately six weeks from submission.

While the PFMLA money will greatly help when it arrives, I’m kinda up against a wall in the meantime. Bills are piling up, medical bills are just starting to come in, and I am looking at another 6-8 weeks of recovery time for both surgeries.

For all of you that know me, you understand how difficult it is for me to ask for AND accept help. I miss my workmates and community, so it is with great humility that I reach out for assistance in this super traumatic time. Any generosity that can be spared will be graciously accepted and will allow me to focus on my healing and making sure I come back an even badder ass bitch than before.

Thank you for reading. Much love to you all!
