Maxine Kelly's Cancer Treatment Fund

Dear family and friends,

I’m reaching out to share some difficult news about our mom, Maxine Kelly. She was taken by ambulance on Tuesday, 10/22/24, to The Dalles emergency room for fatigue and difficulty breathing. There, they drained a whole bunch of fluid surrounding her lungs. Then she was life-flighted to OHSU Tuesday night, where we finally learned she was diagnosed with large B-cell lymphoma. This is a very fast-moving and aggressive cancer. The medical team found a very large mass on her kidney, and unfortunately, the cancer has metastasized and has spread to her lungs, liver, abdomen, and other kidney. Upon finding the mass, they also found a blood clot in her left lung (saddle pulmonary embolism). This news has shaken our family, as she is such a vibrant, beautiful soul who is loved very deeply.

Maxine is not just a mom, grandma, sister, and best friend but also was a dedicated house cleaner. She truly loved and cared for every one of her clients. She approaches every challenge with determination and optimism. She’s also a caring, family-oriented person who always puts others first. Her infectious positivity and bright spirit light up an entire room.

Her love for her grandchildren and family is truly unmatched. Her love for the outdoors, taking pictures, gardening, and reading showcases how much she adores life.

She has been at OHSU nearing 2 weeks and started her first round of chemo on November 1st. While we navigate this challenging time, the financial burden of medical expenses, deductibles, outside bills, and transportation expenses to and from her chemotherapy appointments will all start to become very overwhelming. We want to ensure that Maxine can focus on treatment without the added fear and stress of financial worries.
