Hi everyone, my name is Susan Bologna and I am organizing a GoFundMe for my dear friend Maureen Parsons. Maureen was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excessive immature white blood cells. AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Symptoms include fatigue, recurrent infections, and bruising easily.

Maureen was hospitalized on May 28, 2025, and recently discharged after almost 2 months in the hospital. Maureen, feeling very weak and fatigued with muscle and joint pain, took herself to the hospital. Maureen was swiftly moved to HF Moross Hospital due to dangerously low levels of platelets, red and white blood cells, and with the diagnosis of AML. Maureen has endured 2 months of numerous tests, constant platelet and blood transfusions daily, and several painful biopsies of her bone marrow. Maureen has had to receive weekly 24 hr/7 day a week chemo treatments and is on a ton of daily meds, including oral cancer meds.

Maureen and I have been friends for 30 years. Maureen is a loving, loyal, supportive friend to everyone. Through all of this, she has maintained a great positive attitude and outlook and is fighting hard to regain her strength, independence, and functioning level.

Maureen is an amazing mom to her daughter Lindsey and Lindsey’s 3 beautiful children Madelyn, Mackenzie, and Mason. Maureen’s greatest treasures are those 3 grandkids. Maureen has her beautiful mom (Mimi) living with her and has been her caregiver for years. Maureen has always been taking care of others and gives so much to others. I am putting this GoFundMe together for OUR chance to give and support her during this difficult time. We all know the great cost of medical bills, medicines, and costly tests and helping her manage some of these expenses. Medical bills can be extensive as well as day-to-day expenses, and I wanted to help her handle some of these bills and financial stressors as she continues to FIGHT to get and stay in remission.
