My name is Gabby Hartman, and I am trying to raise money to help pay for my dad, Matthew's, medical bills.

Since 2022, my father has had 3 back surgeries that have left him permanently disabled and unable to work. We have been waiting for over 2 years to hear back from Social Security, but to no avail.

Over the last two months, Matthew has rapidly developed symptoms that led to multiple ER visits and hospital stays. After weeks of bouncing from doctor to doctor, he was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm.

On October 15, 2025, he had emergency heart surgery that required a valve replacement. He has been in the ICU for almost 2 weeks and is unable to breathe without assistance despite having been on a ventilator for over 8 days. He has also developed several infections, further slowing the healing process.

We have been told by his care team that once he can leave the hospital, he will need intensive pulmonary, speech, and cardiac therapy, as well as continued IV treatment, and will have to be moved to an inpatient recovery center.

While it absolutely pains us to have to set up a fundraiser like this, we need help. Our mom, Michele, has been the primary caregiver and breadwinner over the last 3 years, and has had to take time off from work over the last few weeks to help care for Matthew. She has also started a baking company as a means of supplementing income, but she has had to cancel her last 5 events since my father has been in the hospital. The majority of this money will go towards paying our father's medical bills, including the upcoming costs of the inpatient recovery center. The rest will go towards covering bills and expenses at home that we are struggling to pay.
