I am Rose. I am Matt James' mother. Due to Matt's medical condition, he hasn't been able to work or run his company for some time now. Matt had been having problems with his back and then later his leg and foot, and at times couldn't walk. This made it unbearable for him to drive his trucks and bend down to hook up cars. He started going to the doctor, and after several months, they finally discovered all these problems were caused by a broken fracture in his spine and three diseases in his spine. This was all discovered from an MRI. It then took months of therapy to see that the only permanent solution is surgery on his spine. The surgery was booked at such a later date. Finally, when surgery was performed, he was supposed to be in the hospital for one day and recovery would be in six weeks or sooner. They ran into complications, and it went from a one-day hospital stay to six days, and they wanted him to stay longer, but he was ready to be home. He was not having a good experience in the hospital and was not getting his pain meds on a regular basis to manage the pain. Once he got to my home, he started recovering better and was in better spirits. Then he started having problems and had to be taken to the emergency room. When he went to see the surgeon for a follow-up, they discovered a possible deep infection and put him on two antibiotics to see if that would stop the problems. Unfortunately, that didn't work, and now he has to go back in for a second surgery to clean out the incision all the way to the spine, which is going to really set him back because the healing is going to have to start all over. At the incision spot, the surgeon said that was the most muscle they ever had to cut through at the spot in the back, and that will cause a delay in recovering also.

I have been helping Matt all I can to pay utilities, mortgage, food, and etc. I am a widow and on a tight budget, and Matt was able to help some from money he had saved, but that ran out due to him being unable to work at all now. He has tried to sell his company, but buyers want to see financial income for the last year, but that has been impossible due to his health.

I am actually really shocked that no one has had a benefit or any of the non-profit organizations that he has belonged to offer to help in any way. I know Matt has had several benefits over the years to raise needed money for others and to help rebuild places after fires. Any funds that are raised will be directly used for mortgage, utilities, and any medical expenses he may have. And will be paid directly to the source as Matt doesn't want any control of the money so no rumors can be started of misuse of funds. Matt actually doesn't want this page made, but I feel he well deserves the help that he has done for several others and for non-profit organizations. Thanks for your support.
