Help Maryana Recover After Surgery
Donation protected
I'm Arseniy, fundraising for my beloved mother, Maryana. Despite her massive protest, I believe putting her story of surviving a brain aneurysm out there can help us get back on our feet.
To give you a glimpse of my mother's personality, she is determined, witty, and intelligent. She is the heart of our family and any gathering we attend. Despite living paycheck to paycheck, she would go out of her way to give when she couldn't even afford clothes for herself. My mom always gave to me and my brother, forgetting about her own needs.
To paint a picture of her daily routine, my mother would wake up early, take my brother to school, work on Uber for a few hours, and then continue to her regular job as a caregiver. In addition, she often took up babysitting jobs in the evening and repeated this cycle almost 7 days a week.
On Sunday, March 26th, the unimaginable happened. My little brother woke me to alert me that Mommy had a terrible headache. Moments after, he started shouting and crying. I ran to my mom's room as quickly as I could. Unfortunately, my mom had fallen to the ground and began convulsing, and became unresponsive. I immediately dialed 911 and attempted to calm my 6-year-old brother. Later, I would be told that those following hours would be critical for my mother's life. She was rushed to the community hospital and then airlifted to a larger hospital in the city for immediate surgery/procedure. Fortunately, all of our prayers have been heard. My mother had started to recover, and after 2 weeks in the hospital, she returned home. However, she now needs considerable rest, which has put us under significant financial strain as our funds began to run out.
Though our Medicaid insurance covered the medical costs, Maryana couldn't return to her stressful work schedule. This prompted me to create this page to help my mother recover/rest for the next few months while I work to help our household and attend university. Donations will be used for living expenses such as rent, food, car payments, and car insurance.
I pledge to update Maryana's health progress and how your generous donations make a difference in our lives. Your contributions, thoughts, and prayers are greatly appreciated, more than words can express. My mom told me I shouldn't post this because she doesn't want people to make fun of her; if I may ask, please send a message explaining that there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Lastly, I'd like to share a little about my mother's spirit. After the surgery/procedure was completed, Maryana immediately asked her sister jokingly if she could drink coffee. This funny yet beautiful moment reignited hope in our entire family and made me cry out of joy.
To anyone curious about our names, we are originally from Ukraine.
