Hi Friends!
Since 2020, I was compelled to take early retirement from my job as a Lighting Consultant and moved to Charlotte, NC to live at my son’s home since I had no job and didn’t know how I would continue to support myself.
I didn’t plan well for retirement, so I found myself taking any and all work I could find. I walked dogs, organized people’s closets, pulled weeds for others, sold all my jewelry and anything else of value I had, which wasn’t much.
Then, I was diagnosed with lung cancer and had my left upper lung lobe removed, making breathing difficult, but I did everything I could to strengthen myself so I could breathe. Now, after 2 years, the oncologist found more cancer in my right middle lobe, and I am now just waiting for the biopsy to come back so they can schedule the removal of my right middle lung.
The same day I was told about my cancer, I got into a terrible car accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt but my car. I then proceeded to call my insurance company, Progressive, and they said they dropped my Casualty and Collision insurance, which I had no clue why they would do that. It’s like fighting city hall. I have over $6000 of damage and not a penny in my bank account to even cover the $500 deductible I had.
So, needless to say, I have no vehicle and lung cancer all at once.
I have always looked at life with the glass half full and want to live to see my grandchildren graduate high school, college, and watch them get married with a family of their own.
I never asked anyone through my entire life for money, ever! Between the co-pays from doctors and trying to figure out how I can get my car, which I treat like my baby without a scratch or dent anywhere, is sitting on the lot of a repair shop and will be there till I can raise the funds to pay for them to fix it.
I know I haven’t been in touch with all my friends from high school, but at the 50th reunion we had a few weeks ago, I saw friends that I would do anything for if they needed me.
Now I need you. If you can spare 1 dollar, 5 dollars, anything to help me live through these upcoming surgeries and get my car repaired, I would be SO grateful to any and all that may be fortunate enough to be living their “Golden Years” with their families and friends and may be able to help me in my time of need.
I never considered creating a page asking for money, but I figured I have nothing to lose but my pride. It’s so humiliating for me to even ask for someone to drive me to a doctor’s appointment, let alone help me with these medical bills and repairing my car. It’s the only way for me to have my independence, given I had to leave my friends and all that is familiar to me and move to my son’s house because I had no way to rent.
So, if you can spare a dime (like the old song says), I would be and continue to be thankful to everyone for helping me in this difficult journey to live.
I remain, very truly yours,
