Mark Watkins or as many of you know him, “Marty” will be undergoing a profoundly serious spinal fusion this coming December. This surgery is the result of an accident he had several years ago when he fell off a friend’s roof while trying to help.

He initially endured two broken feet, a broken back and issues with his hips. Thinking about what could have happened, we consider him to be very lucky to be able to walk away with those issues.

Over the next few years, he had surgery on both his hips to extend their life (both hips will have to be replaced in the coming years), a back procedure and multiple oblations and shots. Due to this accident, he has lost over a year of wages being out of work for past surgeries and recovery time. As a self-employed contractor, that is a long time. It is a big financial burden to have to take an additional 3 months off for this upcoming surgery and the price tag of the surgery itself.

Marty is an extremely dedicated husband, father, brother, friend and business owner. If family or friends need help, he is the first one to respond. He lives his life full of love and generosity, but feels heavily overwhelmed with his current situation. Due to the extensive recovery process and not being able to work as a small business owner, the Watkins will surpass the six figure mark of lost wages and medical expenses accumulating over the past couple of years.

Without the surgery, he will continue to be in debilitating pain daily. But with it, he has a chance to live a normal life.
