My name is Mark Pecar. I was an All-American Water Polo Player from the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1970s. A serious construction accident in 1998 left my right arm unable to bend and also allowed me another 9 1/2 years of work before a serious back surgery was needed. Now, the neuropathy has my feet going numb, and a sequence of events has left me with nowhere to live or clothes to wear. My truck was junked due to mechanics' inability to repair it. My trailer was stolen or removed before I could afford a 5th wheel hauler. Only on Social Security for income, and rent has become overwhelmingly high. The trailer was taken, and I located it on Marketplace completely stripped and unlivable. At 72 years (in December), I was diagnosed with A-Fib. Even walking has become like balancing on a tightrope. I'm looking for a good used truck and a much smaller trailer that the truck can easily pull, without a 5th wheel hitch. I still swim, which has helped my back problems more than any single thing. But now I need to find another more direct transportation to pools, to doctors, and a less expensive living arrangement to get out of this shelter. I know the trailer is the answer. I can't believe it has come to this, but the reality is it has. My Social Security will afford trailer space, utilities, and food.
