Please join us in helping Marissa and Bradley become parents!
Marissa has spent her entire professional life bringing babies into the world for her Bronx community, first as a labor and delivery nurse and now as a midwife. Marissa has supported countless families—held hands in labor, caught babies in joy and chaos, shown up in ways most never see. Now she needs our help.
For those who don't know Marissa well, she exudes pure sunshine and joy. She is creative and curious, truly selfless, and a caretaker to all, not just her patients-- her family and friends but also people she meets at the gym, an older woman she befriended on a run one day whose friendship literally started out by asking Marissa for help re-clasping her bra!- then quickly progressed to Marissa making personal home visits to care for her when she had Covid, and now visits weekly to offer company and her diabetes injections. She knows all of the hospital staff, from hospital police to the parking attendants, personally on a first name basis and probably their life story and struggle. She has financially supported multiple friends, acquaintances and community members over the years that I've known her, but isn't able to ask for the same help for herself. It's her time to feel supported.
Despite working full-time in a hospital that had not ratified its union contract in over three years— and despite being among the lowest-paid midwives in NYC—Marissa continues to show up every day for her community. She gives her all to other people’s families while quietly carrying the pain of not yet being able to build her own.
Marissa and Bradley have been fighting for the chance to have a baby of their own, but have endured countless infertility setbacks. After a diagnosis of endometriosis, multiple egg retrievals and heartbreaking IVF failures, they are now running out of time. They are hoping to pursue another cycle of egg retrieval, but the financial strain is holding them back. With Marissa's 41st birthday next week, her doctors have made it clear: this next egg retrieval may be her last viable shot at becoming a mother. Her fertility clinic has indicated that after the age of 42, egg retrieval won't be a viable option due to reduced success rates. This makes our support crucial and time-sensitive!
Funds raised will directly support their next cycle of IVF, giving them the chance to welcome their own little miracle. Every contribution, big or small, will bring them one step closer to achieving their dream of becoming parents. Let’s offer our support and show Marissa and Bradley the love and gratitude they’ve shown countless families in their community. Let's make this dream possible. Please donate today and be a part of their journey to parenthood. Every dollar brings them closer to parenthood. Please give what you can—and share.
