Margarita Vasquez Garcia is a loving, caring, and deeply devoted 70-year-old mother and grandmother. Until just three years ago, she was still working and enjoying a full, joyful life with her family in Las Vegas.
Her world changed when she was diagnosed with fatty liver disease, which progressed to fibrosis, then cirrhosis, and ultimately liver cancer. Since then, Margarita has bravely fought through every obstacle placed in front of her.
For the past year, she has been receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix in hopes of stopping the cancer from spreading long enough for a donor liver to become available. She has been on the transplant list since March, and her doctors hoped that by January a miracle might come.
That miracle arrived on Thanksgiving night.
In the middle of the night, Margarita received the call her family had been praying for. Her daughter and son-in-law urgently drove her to Phoenix — a trip they had made many times before for treatment, but this time it was different. This time, it was for the life-saving liver transplant that could give Margarita her future back.
The surgery was a success, and Margarita is currently recovering in the ICU. She is progressing well, and her family is overwhelmed with gratitude for this second chance at life.
However, the journey is far from over.
Help support Margarita’s 45-day life-saving liver transplant recovery.
To safely recover, Margarita and her family are required to stay in the Phoenix area for 45 days for intensive post-transplant care. The cost of the extended hotel stay will total around $4,000, which the family simply cannot afford on top of their regular financial responsibilities and months of ongoing medical travel.
Margarita has never smoked, drank alcohol, or used drugs. She is a devout Catholic, careful with her health, and someone who has always put family first. Through everything, her only goal has been simple: to live.
We are asking for help — any help — to allow her family to remain by her side during this critical recovery period. If just 45 people could contribute $100 to cover one night of lodging, Margarita’s family could focus entirely on supporting her healing instead of worrying about finances.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping Margarita continue her fight for life.
