Make it Home- giving to kids in hospitals
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aliza and I’m 16 years old from Cedarhurst, NY and starting an organization called Make it Home. Kids and teens in hospitals live lives with no control. From the moment of their diagnosis, they have no control over basic things we don’t normally have to think about: what is happening to their bodies, their treatment, where they have to go and for how long, their comfort, and being able to be with friends and family. Separated from friends and the comfort of home, they are moved to hospitals that feel sterile and impersonal. Make it Home will let them make the hospital room feel like home: every child patient will be able to choose between two or more room decor package options to decorate their room. I want to give them back the ability to choose. Every part of hospital life is out of their control. They don’t get to choose anything. With Make it Home, they will be able to choose. Additionally, children who are victims of domestic abuse and neglect, who are in the hospital before being moved to foster homes usually come with no possessions -- they often own nothing but the clothing they came in wearing. Make it Home will give them belongings. I am already working with the Child Life department at South Nassau Hospital here in Long Island to kickstart my project. Let’s make a difference. Join me and donate so you can help these children too. Funds will be forwarded to HALB, which is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, which will disburse the funds to cover our costs. For any questions about whether donations are tax-deductible, please email [email redacted] .
