Maisy, our German Shepherd, is home and recovering after a medical emergency that nearly took her life.
She was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition called GDV, commonly known as bloat. It came on suddenly, she was pacing, panting, and trying to throw up. When we noticed her stomach starting to bloat, we rushed her to an overnight ER, where we were told her stomach had twisted and surgery was her only chance to survive.
Within a few hours, she underwent emergency surgery to untwist her stomach, and her spleen was removed due to internal damage. Thanks to the team at Golf Rose Animal Hospital, Maisy pulled through.
She's now over a month into recovery and doing well, but the financial toll has been significant. The total cost of the surgery, hospitalization, post-op care, and medications came out to around $7,000. We're doing everything we can to manage it. Any support, whether a donation or simply sharing this, would mean so much to us.
We want to thank Golf Rose Animal Hospital and Dr. Paula Roney, who performed the surgery and took amazing care of Maisy while keeping our spirits up through it all. We're beyond grateful that she's still with us.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and caring about Maisy ❤️
