Alexis (Mom) and Morgan (Sister) are hoping to gather funds in support of medical expenses for Madison. On May 4th, Madison was sent to the hospital for extreme chest pain and was told she had a large cyst on her liver. After being transferred to Rush Medical Center in Chicago, where Madison is a current graduate student in Speech-Language Pathology, she and Alexis were told that she actually has a massive hepatic adenoma on her liver. This tumor hemorrhaged and bled into itself — if it had bled outside, she wouldn’t have survived.
Madison underwent an operation on Tuesday, May 6th to stop the blood supply to the tumor. She then had a drain placed in her liver (along with injections of TPA to break up the blood clots) during the week of June 9th, which shrunk the hematoma slightly.
As of August 5th, Madison’s tumor has shrunk to 60% of its original volume, and her doctor is optimistic that it will shrink completely over the next few months with no need for another surgery. She is still experiencing issues with her heart because of the pressure the tumor is placing on it. Her next follow-up with her medical team will be in 2 months to evaluate the tumor’s progress.
Alexis is a single mother and needs financial assistance for these unexpected medical bills, as well as related expenses for caring for Madison during her recovery, and for her three weeks of lost pay while she was in the hospital with Madison.
Madison, Alexis, Morgan, and Kathy greatly appreciate any and all help you are able to provide.
