I hate to have to do this, but I'm in a bit of a bind. Currently going through a divorce, so I cancelled my pet insurance a few months ago to save a bit on my monthly expenses until my financial situation is more stable. My little voids have always been healthy, so I took a chance, and here I am.
Unfortunately, Mačak started having GI issues last Thursday. My previous vet closed this spring, so I got her in for an urgent care visit at a new vet nearby the following day. They completed an exam, prescribed probiotics, and took a sample for a GI PCR panel. Tevildo started having the same symptoms two days later, which confirmed for me that I'm not dealing with a blockage.
The PCR panel for Mačak came back negative on Monday, and I did not agree with their recommendation of expensive imaging as the next step, since both cats had the same symptoms, do not have access to any dangerous items like houseplants or string, never eat human food, and are indoor babies only.
I got a recommendation for a different vet from co-workers and I was able to bring them both in today for an urgent care visit. They are doing a different panel to screen for additional bacterial and viral infections, and I got some new probiotics for both of them, as well as a catch-all antibiotic.
Long story short, this is all expensive. Still glad I didn't stick with the vet who wanted to move to imaging next, as I would rather spend the $$$ on something that seems like the logical next step.
On top of the actual vet bills, I don't currently have a vehicle until my divorce gets sorted out (we were a one-vehicle household), and I've had to use Uber pet to get to and from their appointments.
Any little bit helps to lighten the load, honestly. ⬛⬛
These two are my babies and I love them like children.
