While living in Ghana, Africa as a Peace Corps. volunteer my neighbor Maama and I became great friends. Maama was the kindest person I met. He was on assignment away from his village to a new region and village to teach and was a wonderful teacher and mentor to all the children in the community. I too was away from home and he was also a mentor and teacher to me as well. When I was sick, he made sure I was taken care of. When I was hungry he made sure I was fed. We became so close that Maama named his son Theo in my honor.
Nearly 25 years later Maama is now caring for not only his own child but his sister’s sudden passing has now brought him several new members to care for.
I’m hoping to help raise funds to support their needs and their schooling. In 25 years my friend has never asked me for a favor but I know he needs one now. Anything you can help him with is greatly appreciated.
