It is with profound and unbearable sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, Tía, grandmother, and friend, Lydia Gomes.
While on what was meant to be a joyful vacation in Durango, Mexico, she was involved in a fatal car accident that claimed her life at the young age of just 53. In an instant, our world was shattered. Her loss has left our family devastated—broken in ways we never imagined possible.
There was no warning, no time to prepare, no thought that something so unthinkable could happen. This sudden and heartbreaking tragedy has left us in complete shock, emotionally unprepared and without any plans in place to face the unimaginable reality of her passing—financially or otherwise.
Our hearts are in pieces as we try to make sense of a world without her light, her love, and her presence.
Lydia, my mom, was a radiant soul; Always smiling, always cheerful, always trying to find a way to brighten someone’s day, even through the worst times of their lives. Her joy and optimism were contagious and her presence made an incredible impact on everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
Our family, along with so many loved ones who cared deeply for her, are grieving this tremendous loss.
As we come together to honor her life, we want to give Lydia the beautiful and peaceful farewell she truly deserves. We ask that you donate with Lydia’s memory in mind, as the costs of funeral and memorial arrangements have presented a financial challenge during an already painful time. We are kindly asking for support—any amount, no matter how small—to help us cover these expenses.
If you are unable to donate, we completely understand, but hope that in lieu of a donation, you are able to share this fundraiser with others. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this time as we navigate the loss of such a bright light in our lives.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. It means more than we can express.
— Anthony, Alex, and Harley (Lydia’s sons)
