Lumber AKA Lumberjack AKA Lumber Log AKA Lunatic Lumber - Tucson Rescue Now’s first dog brought to their new location on Grant Road. I work next door at A Loyal Companion and would see this muscular boy walk by multiple times a day as I was swimming with other dogs. Once I met him, I didn’t think much about it. He needed to meet Andy, too. We kept coming back to hang out with this boy and started fostering him on Halloween 2024. His mobility challenge with his left leg being shorter than his right leg due to an improperly healed fracture made him fit in perfectly with our lives.
Lumber met his bestie, Mabel (FKA Kisser), at the beginning of February 2025. She joined as a foster at the end of the month. All was going well until Lumber started peeing blood with clots on the morning of April 26th. He started a 7 day round of antibiotics. Nine days after finishing antibiotics he started peeing blood again. This time he was put on 10 days of antibiotics. Well, 7 days after finishing antibiotics he started peeing blood again. A different antibiotic ended in the same results - pee in blood after only 4 days post-antibiotic. After adopting him and bringing him to our vet, a urine culture didn’t show any resistance to an antibiotic so he was put on a different one for 2 weeks.
When the blood returned, X-Rays, bloodwork, and an ultrasound were completed but did not show anything significant. A three week course of antibiotics was administered in hopes of finally clearing it. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and now we have been referred to a specialist. We were able to secure an appointment with a specialist in Glendale for this upcoming Monday, August 18th. We are hoping to finally get some answers. We have put quite a bit of money into testing and vet appointments and would appreciate any financial assistance for the internal medicine specialist visit.
With love,
Katherine & Andy
