I’ve been playing guitar and piano for most of my life, and what began as a proclivity for simply playing music I enjoyed led to writing my own “doodles”. Years after writing some doodles I wrote some lyrics and created a full song, and years after that I looked back and realized I had written a couple dozen songs without ever thinking I’d write that many.
Stylistically, my songs are mostly narrative and contemplative in nature covering topics like faith, family, hope and dignity. As much as I’ve enjoyed these songs I’ve always wondered what to do with them.
After doing some concerts and performances in multiple different formats I’ve come to think that the best way to enjoy them is by doing home concerts. Just a few friends together where there’s time to discuss the ideas behind each song and the concert itself is an interaction between me and the audience, with the hope being that the whole experience could be as thought-provoking as I’ve wanted all my songs to be.
To that end I’m wanting to try and raise roughly $10,000 to get a quality guitar and stage piano ensemble that would last forever and withstand the rigors of lots of travel and usage. My church has generously offered to match any gifts given, bringing the amount I’m trying to raise down to $5,000.
