November 18, 2024, marks the 5-year anniversary of losing our son, Luke Evans, to depression and suicide. Over these past 5 years, it has been very challenging for the surviving family members to carry on with day-to-day life while coping with suicide grief. We are proud of both of our daughters who have been able to pursue college educations while carrying this weight (and our other son who is doing very well in school and plans to pursue college).

To mark the 5th anniversary of Luke's passing, we are creating a scholarship to specifically help a student (or students if we raise enough) who are dealing with the loss of a loved one (especially if they lost a loved one to suicide). We hope that it will make the transition from high school to higher education easier for these kids. It will also honor Luke's memory because he took education seriously, always taking difficult courses and making good grades. At the time of his passing, he had been accepted to several colleges, with the aspiration of pursuing piano performance.
