Los Angeles artist Luis Sanchez is a true inspiration. I am in awe of his unmatched grit and talent in the face of true pain and suffering. His courage and resilience while enduring setback after setback never ceases to inspire me. He is a true friend, a charismatic leader, and a lot of damn fun. He is a dear friend, and today I am asking for help on his behalf.
Luis is a fine art painter, sculptor, and muralist. He has supported himself with his art for the past 26 years throughout insurmountable setbacks.
Luis has had two kidney transplants and is immune-compromised. What's more, he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2021 and suffered a stroke in September of last year. This caused extreme vertigo and nausea and required months of physical therapy. Unfortunately, during a recent work trip to Seattle, he sustained a head injury and is now suffering from vertigo and debilitating dizziness again.
Throughout all of this, Luis has continued to work, and has continued to remain positive to fight for his health. Any one of these medical conditions is debilitating, but the combination is disastrous. Because his immune system is compromised and he is still suffering from lymphoma and stroke aftermath, he is unable to work at a level that would be sustaining for Los Angeles living. His doctor has urged him to avoid stress, but maintaining a positive financial flow and creating art amid various visits to doctors and debilitating vertigo has proven very difficult.
Due to recent cuts to arts funding, Luis needs your help, as doctors are urging him to avoid stress, and he needs financial security to do this. Please donate whatever you can to help provide a way for Luis to rest and recover so he can return to his art rejuvenated and healthy. Thank you.
