Donate to Louise's Lifesaving Surgery

On the 5th of April, little foster puppy Louise was accidentally backed over by a car, resulting in life threatening injuries.

Louise came to our rescue's vet clinic collapsed and in shock, and was having trouble breathing. It was touch and go for a while, but after nearly 2 hours on oxygen therapy and hardcore pain relief she brightened up a bit and regained consciousness.

We performed X-Rays, and found out she had a badly broken femur and bleeding in her abdomen.

The internal bleeding thankfully resolved quickly, but her leg will need surgery: she needs a procedure called a FHO (femoral head osteotomy) where the head of her femur will be completely removed, and the sharp edge of her femur will be sanded down so it doesn't rub against her pelvis joint. Scar tissue and muscle will create a pseudojoint, and Louise should go to live a normal quality of life if the procedure goes well.

Louise's intensive care over the weekend has resulted in a bill of $1000, and we predict the FHO surgery will cost an additional $1500. Crikey!

Our animal rescue KANE Inc works incredibly hard to rescue and rehome domestic animals, and expensive procedures like this put tremendous strain on our resources - euthanasia is our only alternative option which we do not even want to think about . Please help us prevent this option by helping us reach our goal of $2500 - this will cover all the vet costs of her surgery and treatment.

Louise's surgery is scheduled for this Saturday the 12th of April (our vets and nurses at Kimberley Vet Centre are kindly donating their weekend to us!) and we really hope to secure the funds and Louise's future by then.
