Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Lorie Raymond, and I’m reaching out to share my story and seek your support as I embark on a journey toward rebuilding my life. As some of you may know, I became a widow at 49 when my beloved husband tragically passed away due to a hospital error. This loss plunged me into a deep depression and left me navigating a difficult path where I’ve been bouncing from one friend or family member’s home to another, often in unhealthy living situations.

For the past six years, I’ve felt as though I’ve been living in the shadows of sadness and loss. I’ve faced moments of despair that led me to the brink, but I’ve held on, hoping for a brighter future. Recently, I received a glimmer of hope in the form of a housing voucher for Omaha, Nebraska. This opportunity represents a fresh start—a chance to leave behind the painful memories of Connecticut and create a life filled with possibility.

I am determined to make this change, but I need your help. I am aiming to raise $4500 to cover essential expenses for my relocation to Omaha. This amount will help me purchase a plane ticket for what WAS going to be March 20th, but It's been extended to April 10th. I'll also need stay in a budget-friendly room for a few nights to give me time to secure a place, return to CT and rent a small U-Haul truck that can trail my Cherokee behind. Once living there, I am enrolling into a tech boot camp that I believe will open doors for me professionally, allowing me to gain skills and ultimately secure a job that will enable me to support myself.

I understand that Section 8 housing may carry a stigma, but I see it as a necessary stepping stone—a temporary cushion that will allow me to stabilize my life and focus on healing. My ultimate goal is to stand on my own two feet and thrive, and I believe that Omaha will provide the environment I need to do just that.

This journey is incredibly important to me, not just for finding a home but for reclaiming my life. I plan to document my experiences and share updates on Facebook for all of you to see and possibly YouTube, giving you a glimpse into the progress I make along the way. Your support would mean the world to me and could make a significant difference in my life.

If you feel moved to contribute, no amount is too small, and every little bit will help me take one step closer to my goal. I genuinely appreciate your kindness, whether through a financial contribution or simply sharing my story with others who may be able to help.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Your support might just be the lifeline I need to turn my life around and allow me the chance to make my daughters and grandchildren proud.

With all my gratitude,

Lorie Pelletier Raymond
