Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my incredible mother, Lori Melton. A woman who has dedicated her entire life to faith, family, and service — and who now needs our help more than ever.
For 28 years, my mother has been a devoted Sunday School teacher, shaping young minds with love and faith. She is a proud and active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (38 years) and Life Member of National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), always at the forefront of community service, mentoring, and uplifting those around her. Her life has been rooted in giving — to her church, her community, and her family.
She is also a loving grandmother, and with great excitement, our family is preparing to welcome her second grandchild in just a few weeks. Even as she prepared for what was expected to be a routine surgery, she was still pouring her energy into planning every single detail of my baby shower: making phone calls, reviewing decorations, and trying to make sure everything would be perfect. That’s who she is: selfless to the core, always thinking of others, even in the face of uncertainty.
Tragically, after surgery, Lori suffered a massive stroke, a complication with less than a 1% chance of occurring. This unexpected and life-altering event has left her in need of long-term care, intensive rehabilitation, and 24/7 support. The road ahead will be long, but we believe in her strength and in the power of community to help carry her through it.
I am humbly asking for your support. Your donations will help cover:
• Medical and rehabilitation expenses
• In-home care, therapy, and essential medical equipment
• Transportation to appointments and treatments
• Her living expenses while she is unable to work or manage independently
If you know my mother, you know her heart. You’ve likely witnessed her kindness, her commitment, and her deep love for her community and family. Now, as she fights to heal, we are leaning on that same community to lift her up.
Please consider donating, sharing this campaign, and keeping our family in your prayers as we navigate this difficult time. Every gift, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to getting her the care she needs and deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Troi
