London’s Road To A Brighter Future
Donation protected

My name is Gaye Booker. London Booker (age: 25) is my daughter. As a college graduate and young mother, I continually stressed the importance of higher education and all its advantages- personal, professional, and financial. So, as she watched me glide through life almost effortlessly, London consistently excelled in her studies and now holds a BS in History from Howard University, an MA in Anthropology/Archeology from the University of Maryland, and to further her career, looks forward to obtaining her PhD. She presently resides in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. I’m truly proud to be her mother.
However, these are different and difficult times for us both. Now, as our country heads towards an economic meltdown, living expenses are staggering while entry level salaries remain stagnant, forcing many college and post graduate graduates into poverty. All the while, wealth disparity in the US continues to widen.
Can we no longer promise our children bright futures through education?
To compound her struggle, I’m now an aging parent who due to health issues and diminishing resources is unable to financially assist as we had planned and as a mother desires.
Finally and unexpectedly, opportunities in Archeology and Anthropology are quite limited during the winter months for MA recipients.
For all these reasons and more, my daughter cried on her 25th birthday.
I’m heartbroken…we need your help.
All donations will go towards London’s rent, utilities, educational and job search expenses, transportation needs, and nutritional support. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you for your support.
