Our dear mother Lolly experienced a catastrophic hemorrhagic stroke that has rendered her in need of acute rehabilitation and specialized care. Currently she is paralyzed on her right side and has lost the ability to speak and is being fed through a tube. She is fully dependent on 24-hour care and is profoundly sad about her sudden change from a fully independent, healthy and youthful 70-something to now stuck in a hospital bed fully reliant on us for even the most basic needs.
We are caring for at our house but she is in desperate need of acute rehabilitation which her healthcare is refusing to pay for. The window to regain movement and function of her body and speech is the strongest within the first three months after a stroke, therefore it is critical we get her into a facility as soon as possible. She is already showing promise, with her speech slowly returning and her cognitive function improving daily; however there is only so much we can do for her at home. To get her back to an independent life, she needs professional, acute care. Brains are incredibly plastic and research has shown that with the correct rehabilitation our Lolly had a chance to make a full recovery.
We would be so grateful for any help towards funding her/our out of pocket medical bills and a home healthcare worker to help Daya as she cares for our mom.
No amount is too little, any bit helps! Thank you!!
