Hello friends. It is with a heavy but very hopeful heart that I am sharing this news with you all…
On November 2, 2024, my dear life-long friend Lisa Garvey was involved in a horrific car accident in Harvard, MA. She sustained extensive, life-threatening injuries, predominantly all on her left side, as she was ejected from her car on impact. Her list of injuries includes several broken vertebrae in her neck, which is necessitating a cervical immobilizer to be worn for six weeks to stabilize her neck; a shattered wrist and hand, several broken ribs, a broken femur, broken hip, and shattered ankle, heel, and foot. She has had several surgeries over the last two weeks and needs yet another on her foot/ankle/heel this coming Monday in order to prevent further necrosis and provide necessary skin grafts. I don’t mean to horrify you with the specific details of her injuries but felt it necessary for you all to know how devastating this accident was, as she herself has not been fully aware of the extent of her own injuries, given the severe shock and trauma. She is now alert and understanding of the long road ahead to recovery and is fighting like hell. She is truly a warrior. I visited with her yesterday and I am in awe of her strength and positivity. We cried at first, of course, then laughed like it was any other day, which tells you who she is and she is going to do whatever it takes to fully recover. For that, I have no doubt.
To make it even more challenging, she is not even near family or friends as she is at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA, so you can only imagine how very hard it is to feel so isolated and alone during this very difficult ordeal. We look forward to when Lisa is able to get moved to a local rehabilitation center near her home so that she can be re-connected with her family and friends.
I am asking for any contribution you can make to help her with what will be an overwhelming financial burden during her road to recovery. Thank you all so very much and please continue to send love and prayers her way. She will respond when she is better able and loves you all and appreciates it beyond words.
