Over two years ago a motorcycle wreck revealed a much bigger threat for our son, metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma. In those two years, Levi has had two surgeries and a first round of radioactive iodine. His third surgery is scheduled for early December.
We are working with Drs. in Oklahoma City at the Stephenson Cancer Center and in New York City at Memorial Sloan Kettering. The strategy is to watch and track the disease progression, dealing with lesions as they pop up.
With a surgery every year and travel to NYC, we are reaching a point where the bills are growing faster than we can pay them off. There are still resources available to us such as requesting space donated on corporate jets, or the Ronald McDonald House to help.
Our support network has been incredible, but feel it is now time to ask if anyone would like to share a few dollars in financial support. Any amount will help and is appreciated!
Our goals with this fundraiser is to:
- Help Levi pay off yearly out-of-pocket that he has maxed out for the past 2-3 years. Because of yearly cancer surgeries and ultrasounds, CT scans, and biopsies every 3-6 months, this amount is growing faster than we can pay it.
- Offset travel expenses to NYC appointments. We are looking into options through non-profits such as the Corporate Angel Networkand the Ronald McDonald House in NYC, but flights aren't guaranteed to be covered. Ubers to and from airports, train stations, and the hospital are also a lot when traveling in Manhattan.
- It will be an advantage when Nathan and I are in Pennsylvania for NYC appointments as we can provide lodging and reduce expenses in NYC, but we will be purchasing train tickets to and from NYC.
Thanks,
The Parrow Family
