My name is Leslieann and I am a current second-year graduate student at Emerson College. I’m pursuing a MFA in Writing for Film & Television so that I can make films and tell stories that shed light on marginalized communities.
I started writing poems and short stories at the age of 12. For me, writing has always been a therapeutic comfort. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized just how much of growing up in a household full of strong female storytellers influenced me.
I am in my last year of the Writing for Film & Television program at Emerson. Graduation is slated for May ‘26 and I want to finish strong! I currently have an outstanding balance of $1000 that is preventing me from registering for classes this semester and would prolong earning my degree.
I recently moved back to Brooklyn and have had an extremely hard time finding work. It has been over a month and nothing.
The in-person residency for the Fall semester is next week. In order to attend, I must be registered for classes but that is impossible with a balance on my account.
I’m asking for any donations big or small to help clear this debt and get me to residency and ultimately to that graduation stage in May.
Thank you,
Leslieann
