Hello, thank you for stopping by! My name is Leon (he/they), and I am a transmasc guy who is about to do something drastic: I am about to turn 30. Yep, the big 3-0.

Along with the usual excitement and mild existential anxiety that accompanies decade-marking birthdays, I am also feeling a strange sense of regret. It comes from me looking back at my life so far and realizing the amount of discomfort and sadness I felt in my body and in my assigned gender that I never spoke up about. I put off talking about my experience for years, partially because I didn't have the language to convey what I was feeling, and partially because I didn't feel like I deserved to reach out to others and ask for help. And that's the part I really regret, the belief that my suffering had to look a certain way, or even reach a breaking point, in order for me to have earned the right to ask for help. I started my social and medical transition a little over two years ago, and I have learned that when I speak, even if I'm unsure I'll say the right thing, the language always comes to me, and good people always listen. I believe asking for help works the same way.

I am setting up this fundraiser for gender-affirming top surgery, the consultation of which is set for October 28th. My insurance unfortunately does not cover any surgeons in my state, so I will have to pay for this procedure out-of-pocket. Based on the estimates I received, the presumed cost of the surgery is $20,000. After adding in my savings, cost of aftercare, and the roughly 3% fee that GoFundMe takes out at the end for a total of $5,500. I ask for no other gifts this year, only that friends, family, and kindly strangers donate whatever they can to make this dream a reality.
