Hello everyone! For those that don’t know me, my name is Leighann. I would like to tell you about my story.

First of all, if you know me, you know that it is very hard for me to reach out for help. I have been a very hard worker and a single mother to two young men for the past twenty years. In October of 2024, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. I am currently a patient of the Yale Transplant Clinic. I have had many evaluations and procedures to ensure my body will accept a new liver.

With all of my medical needs, I have not been able to work. This has caused a huge financial hardship. I am able to collect SS disability benefits, but this is not enough to cover the costs of medical expenses not covered by insurance, household bills, mortgage, and everyday expenses. With me being unable to work, I was served with foreclosure papers and currently working with a court mediator to keep my home. I am at my wits' end but trying to stay positive.
